Privacy Policy

GridPoint Digital LLC · Effective November 1, 2026

This policy explains what information the Rod Reader app for Android (“the app”) handles, published by GridPoint Digital LLC (“we”, “us”). The app is a training tool for reading a surveyor’s leveling rod.

The short version

  • We do not ask for your name, email, location or any account. There is no sign-in.
  • Your scores and answer history are saved only on your phone. We never receive them.
  • The app shows ads from Google AdMob. Google’s ad software collects some device information to show ads, measure them and prevent fraud, as described below.

Information stored on your device

The app saves your score, streak, accuracy and recent answers on your device so your progress is there the next time you open it. This information is not sent to us or anyone else. You can erase it at any time with Reset progress on the home screen, or by uninstalling the app.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK to show a banner ad and, if you choose, a short rewarded ad that gives you a free hint. Google, as the ad provider, automatically collects and processes the following information from your device:

InformationUsed for
IP address, which may be used to estimate your general locationAdvertising, analytics, fraud prevention
Interactions with ads and the app, such as app launches, taps and video viewsAdvertising, analytics, fraud prevention
Diagnostic information about app and ad performanceAnalytics, fraud prevention
Device identifiers: the Android advertising ID and app set IDAdvertising, analytics, fraud prevention

This information is encrypted in transit. Google’s use of it is governed by the Google Privacy Policy; see also How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. We do not receive your advertising ID or any of the information above in a form that identifies you.

Ads are limited to content suitable for general audiences (rated PG or below).

Your choices

  • Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland): if you are in a region where the law requires consent, the app asks for it through Google’s consent form before personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time in the app under About & privacy → Privacy & ad choices.
  • Advertising ID: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on your device).
  • Stop all collection: uninstalling the app stops all data collection by the app and its ad software.

Children

The app is intended for adults (18 and over), such as surveying students and professionals. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Sharing and sale of information

We do not collect personal information ourselves, and we do not sell or share any personal information. Information collected by Google’s ad software is handled by Google as described above.

Data retention and deletion

Progress saved on your device stays there until you reset it or uninstall the app. Information collected by Google is retained according to Google’s policies. Because we hold no personal information about you, there is nothing for us to delete; if you have a question about your data, contact us below.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and its effective date. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
